How David Learned to Fly - Installation (2014)

“Transcendental Meditation” is a controversial movement which, although it refuses to classify itself as a sect or religion, nevertheless has similar systems. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi was at the head of the movement until his death. His followers refer to him as his holiness. He made world peace his mission. He offers to learn to fly with him.

But first you get the basic course for 2,380 euros and are introduced to transcending by a teacher. The mantra that you receive at a ceremony comes from a secret method and the subordinate leadership in the respective countries is assumed by the rajas, either influential, successful people from all regions of the economy appointed by the organisation or those who are prepared to donate 1,000,000 euros. All for the greater good.

What drives everyone together is the calming, protective or supernatural, the sense of community and security that Transcendental Meditation offers. It is all based on a simple technique that helps you to be calmer, more balanced and more self-determined. You sit in a comfortable place, close your eyes and repeat your mantra over and over again.
